The 2008 New Mexico Youth Day Holiday
|
THE DREAM THAT BECAME A REALITY
Prime Time For The Kids Inc. is celebrating a huge accomplishment this year! Keefe Ricks, CEO and Executive Director of Prime Time, is proud of, and humbled by, all of our young New Mexican citizens who worked tirelessly to get the NEW MEXICO YOUTH DAY bill passed in the 2007 legislative session. NEW MEXICO YOUTH DAY is now an official state holiday created to acknowledge all of the accomplishments of New Mexico’s young people and to empower them to have to plan and partake in state-wide events created for them and by them.
Keefe enforces, it goes to show that if we offer consistency and hold onto our faith, it is possible to accomplish the most unthinkable goals. Our organization was told by many that our vision of having an official NEW MEXICO YOUTH DAY HOLIDAY would never occur. We were not put off by this negativity. Our kids continued to stay focused on their dreams. After seven years, we accomplished our goal. Job well done!
Our appreciation goes out to Governor Bill Richardson and Lieutenant Governor Diane D. Denish for making our dream a reality.
The Prime Time Youth Advisory teams would like to give an extra special, thanks to State Representative Rick Miera for keeping his commitment to place New Mexico's youth first in the State Of New Mexico. You will always be in our hearts!
In 2008 We intend to make New Mexico Youth Day State holiday a big deal for all New Mexicans, so let's show our kids how much we care! Support the NMYD holiday by donating $1 dollar to Union Saving Bank Albuquerque, and remember this will be a day the whole family can enjoy!
